PURPOSE AND INTENT
OVERVIEW – The District is seeking proposals in response to this Request for Proposal (“RFP”) from entities to provide fresh locally raised and processed protein to the Bulloch County School District (“District”) for fiscal year
2026-2027. The District is committed to its “Farm to School” program, and endeavors to work with one or more vendors that support the District’s vision of bringing fresh, local, and high-quality food to schools.
The District may award this RFP to more than one proposer, including, but not limited to, award of seasonal items to multiple proposers. The District does not seek exclusive vendors for any of the protein items listed in this RFP. The District will continue to procure some of its protein through the USDA and commercial vendors. Please note that the District reserves the right to purchase protein from these and other sources, as best supports the District’s farm to school efforts.
The District seeks protein vendor(s) who will support the District in the following goals:
○ Ensure that students are receiving high-quality protein,
○ Purchase high-quality protein at the best possible price,
○ Purchase locally-raised and minimally processed proteins with a preference for proteins raised closer in proximity to the District:
We define locally as: raised and processed within a 200-mile radius of Bulloch County.
○ Offer more protein that is locally raised and processed
○ Partner with a protein vendor that will provide excellent customer service and clearly state where protein items come from, including the farm name and city.
The District is located in Bulloch County and will have a projected student enrollment for the 2026- 2027 school year of approximately 11,200 students. There are fourteen (14) schools: ten (8) elementary schools, two (3) middle schools, and three (3) high schools. The District will consider proposals for: delivery to the school nutrition warehouse located at 18201
Hwy 80, W Statesboro, G.A 30458
