About this file
This is a bread and bakery products specification document for a Child Nutrition Services contract with a California school district (SUSD). The vendor is required to supply fresh, whole grain bread products on at least a weekly basis to district schools. The specified bread items include sandwich loaf bread, hot dog buns, English muffins, breadsticks, hamburger buns, hoagie rolls, and bagels, all meeting a 51% whole grain-rich requirement. All products must comply with USDA Child Nutrition Program requirements and meet the whole grain-rich criteria as defined in 7 CFR 210.2, which designates whole grain-rich products as those containing between 50 and 100 percent whole grain with any remaining grains being enriched. At minimum, 80 percent of all grain products offered at lunch weekly must meet whole grain-rich standards by ounce equivalents, with remaining grain items required to be enriched.
The document does not contain specific information regarding pricing terms, contract duration, renewal options, set-asides, incumbent vendor status, response deadlines, or award dates. SUSD seeks a qualified and reliable vendor capable of demonstrating consistent delivery, strong food safety practices, and the ability to meet the distribution scale required for a large school district while supporting the district's mission to provide nutritious and appealing meals to students.
