MEMORANDUM FOR BRAND NAME JUSTICATION AND APPROVAL
SUBJECT: Brand Name Exact Match Memo for Buffet Bass Clarinet BC1193-2-0
1. The U.S. Army School of Music (W23NA) is requesting specific brand, make and model of musical instrument to replace property book equipment that is no longer operational and/or beyond the documented life cycle. It is imperative this instrument be replaced by the same brand, make and model to meet consistent mission training expectations and outcomes. Like instruments of different or varied brands will not meet the performance requirements due to different manufacturing processes, quality of materials and industry performance track record over time. Each brand is the current industry standard of quality and performance in their class. Maintenance, repair and replacement costs will be significantly decreased and the overall life cycle increased by purchasing this brand without any substitutions.
In accordance with AR220-90, para. 6-1b, the following musical instruments are within the scope of professional quality, meet the serviceability standards, and fulfil the mission requirements for Army Music units:
a. Quantity (1): Buffet Bass Clarinet BC1193-2-0
2. All Army Bands are currently utilizing these specific brands to perform daily musical operations, which is another reason to maintain instruments our soldiers will be required to perform when they report to their units.
3. Point of Contact for this Memorandum for Record (MFR) is Mr. Cory Silfies.
