Naval Support Activity Philadelphia. This Sarco brand is an exact replacement of existing equipment. Building #4 was engineered specifically for the Condensate return system that is now in place. The platform where the system is mounted is to the side of the mechanical room so personnel have required access to the steam main and steam pit. If another unit were to be installed, the inlet/outlet now being used would have to be rerouted.
☒ The supplies or services must be compatible in all aspects (form, fit and function) with existing systems presently installed/performing. Describe the equipment/function you have now and how the new item/service must coordinate, connect, or interface with the existing system.
The existing Condensate return system is the same brand/specifications as the one requested. The dimensions for the inlet condensate return, and the condensate outlet, need to be exact matches to enable us to remove the old system and replace with the new requiring no alterations. The concrete pad the existing system is mounted on is off to the side of the mechanical room leaving space for personnel to access the steam main and the steam pit. The power requirements were installed per exact specifications of the existing system. The system requested will be an exact match to the current system as it is a direct replacement to provide building #4 with steam heat.
We require the Sarco condensate return system because the dimensions are an exact fit to existing concrete pad, electrical specifications and piping now in place in the mechanical room. If we were to get another system without matching inlet/outlet positions, it would not fit in the mechanical room properly and would cause safety hazards. The existing inlet/outlet piping follows the perimeter of the mechanical room. If we use another unit without the exact positions of the inlet/outlet, the piping would require rerouting to the middle of the room, or over the steam pit cage. Doing this would not only cause a safety concern for personnel, but would require additional time and expense. It is in the best interest of the government to purchase an identical match to the current system to avoid additional expense for multiple alterations, which would include construction.
