About this file
This document is a Justification for Use of a Single Source Below the Simplified Acquisition Threshold (SAT) for the Counter UAS project by the Air Force. The requirement is for a Counter-small Unmanned Aerial System (C-SUAS) to provide defense for Dyess Air Force Base. The specific procurement includes one Immediate Response Kit with Rf Patrol Mk2 and Drone Gun Mk4A, one Drone Gun Mk4A, and an Rf Patrol Mk2 Software Subscription.
DroneShield is the sole approved product meeting USAF and MAJCOM requirements, with critical capabilities for mobile counter-terrorism operations. Market research and a sources sought notice in July 2025 confirmed no alternative solutions exist that meet technical specifications. Six companies responded to the sources sought notice, but only DroneShield met all operational needs. The USAF Contracting Officer determined on 9/11/2025 that only a single source is reasonably available, with plans to continue evaluating future product options through a Working Group to improve technology and alternatives.
