About this file
This is a Statement of Need for the procurement of one new bowling lane maintenance machine for MacDill Air Force Base Lanes Bowling Center, dated 25 February 2026.
The requirement addresses the replacement of an obsolete lane maintenance machine that has exceeded its operational lifespan and requires frequent, costly maintenance. The current machine's unreliability presents a direct threat to operations, with projected annual revenue loss of $35,000 due to lane closures and degraded customer experience. The new machine is essential to support consistent lane oiling multiple times per week, which protects wood surfaces, ensures fair play, and maintains quality scoring conditions. The machine must be rechargeable and battery-powered for untethered operation, feature an intuitive graphical user interface with a color touchscreen of at least 3.5 inches, include an automated self-mixing system for lane cleaner and conditioner, and utilize a patented sprayless application system to prevent overspray into gutters. Additional required features include "walker" functionality providing automatic lane-to-lane movement with auto-aligning guides, robust wheeled chassis for easy maneuverability, and internal memory capacity to store a minimum of 15 unique lane conditioning patterns. The vendor must provide comprehensive on-site operator and maintenance training upon delivery, no-cost 24/7 technical support for the life of the machine, and a minimum 12-month warranty covering all parts and labor. Delivery shall occur at MacDill AFB Lanes, 8216 Hangar Loop Drive, MacDill AFB, FL 33621, Monday through Friday between 0900-1800 EST excluding Federal holidays. The vendor's representative must unpackage, assemble, and conduct a full functional demonstration on-site as a condition of acceptance. Point of contact is Karen Jones at (813) 828-4005 or karen.jones.18@us.af.mil.
