About this file

This Request for Information (RFI) is issued by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) for an Inmate Tablet Implementation Initiative. The agency seeks vendors capable of providing 150,000 individual tablets for inmates across 115+ institutions, with comprehensive requirements including secure network infrastructure, subscription-based content, controlled communication services, and strong administrative oversight. Key technical specifications include supporting tele-health, legal visits, educational sessions, role-based access controls, enterprise-wide support services, and AI-enabled analytics for intelligence gathering while maintaining privacy safeguards.

The RFI requests vendors to provide detailed responses addressing specific questions, such as cost structures for inmates, revenue sharing models, comprehensive solution capabilities, implementation timelines, and previous experience with similar projects. Respondents must submit electronically formatted documents following specific guidelines: single-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font, with responses focused on capabilities rather than marketing materials. The FBOP emphasizes that this RFI is for market research and information gathering, and does not constitute a formal solicitation, with all submissions becoming government property and potentially informing a future Request for Quotation (RFQ) or Request for Proposal (RFP).
