2. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS &

SCOPE OF WORK

2.1 Surface Baseline

Existing asphalt court surfaces requiring thorough cleaning, structural crack remediation, depression leveling, multi-coat acrylic resurfacing, and dual-sport line application

2.2 Surface Preparation & Mechanical Cleaning

1. Pressure Washing: The contractor shall thoroughly clean all four (4) court surfaces using high-pressure water to completely strip dirt, oil, organic growth, chalk, and loose asphalt particles.

2. Vegetation & Debris Remediation: All cracks and expansion joints must be cleared of dirt, roots, and vegetation down to solid material using mechanical wire routing or high-pressure air.

3. Depression Patching (Birdbaths): Prior to resurfacing, the contractor shall flood the courts with clean water and allow them to drain for 1 hour in ambient sunlight (70°F or above). Any depression holding water deeper than a nickel (1/16") must be leveled flush with an acrylic patching compound binder mixed with graded silica sand per manufacturer standards.

2.3 Structural Expandable Membrane Crack Repair System

To prevent reflective cracking without full depth asphalt removal, the contractor shall supply and install an engineered multi-layer expandable membrane crack repair system over primary structural cracks across the four (4) courts:

1. Primary Crack Infill: Deep structural cracks must be filled flush with a heavy-bodied acrylic crack sealant binder and mechanically scraped or buffed completely smooth.

2. Micro-Sealant Base: Apply continuous high-tack micro-sealant tape directly centered over designated structural cracks.

3. Stress-Relief Fabric Membrane: Install a continuous 20-inch wide flexible stress-relief fabric mat centered over the tape layer, fully saturating the fabric with high-grade binding adhesive formula.

4. Edge Sealing & Integration: Secure stress mat edges with flexible binding tape. Apply 1 to 2 leveling coats of acrylic resurfacer over the completed repair assembly to feather all repair edges smoothly into the surrounding court plane prior to overall color coating.

2.4 Multi-Course 100% Acrylic Surfacing System

All coating materials must be 100% premium acrylic resins formulated specifically for outdoor hard-court athletic surfaces. No asphalt cutbacks, coal tars, or latex paint products will be accepted.

1. Control Joint Sealing: All structural control joints must be sealed using a 2-part polyurethane elastomeric joint sealant compatible with acrylic color systems.

2. Acrylic Resurfacer / Filler Coat: Apply two (2) full coats of heavy-bodied 100% acrylic resurfacer blended with washed, graded silica sand (50–60 mesh) to fill pavement voids, seal the asphalt, and establish a uniform texture.

3. Acrylic Color Texture Course: Apply one (1) course of textured 100% acrylic color concentrate blended with fine silica sand (80–100 mesh) for uniform traction and ball speed control.

4. Acrylic Color Finish Course: Apply one (1) final course of premium 100% acrylic color concentrate finish coating. Colors (inner court and outer perimeter) to be selected by Paw Paw Public Schools prior to application.
