INVITATION TO BID #2021-89
Bowman Building Covered Parking Structure Project (“BID”)
RESPONSE TO CLARIFYING QUESTIONS
November 2, 2021
Note that these are questions submitted by interested firms to the above referenced solicitation.
The below answers are for clarification purposes only and in no way alter or amend the BID as published.
1. Would you be able to clarify the intended strategy for dealing with contaminated materials? The revised F6 language from the Supplemental General Conditions says the “Contractor… shall perform mitigation as part of contracted work.” Additionally, the Project Information attachment says that “Contractor shall be responsible for project necessitated removal of hazardous soils” in the event the containment layer is breached.
My question is: if contaminated soils are encountered shallower than 24” depth or outside of the area shown in the DEQ map, is remediation/removal expected to be part of the cost of work (included) or will the cost of remediation/removal be added via change order?
Answer: Because of the uncertainty in location and/or amount of the contaminated soil, the bid schedule asks for a mitigation cost for 10 yards of contaminated soil. If contaminated soil is encountered, the cost will be captured in a change order and payed based on bid schedule.
2. The detail in the drawings calls out the anchor rod size and grade as being per the building manufacturer yet after speaking Webb Steel Buildings, it needs to be spec’d by the structural engineer for the project. Can you please advise me on how to proceed as I need this answered to have an accurate bid?
Answer: See Addendum #1.
