About this file

This is an addendum to the Contract Documents for the CS/Paving Project at Byron Center Charter School located at 9930 Burlingame Ave in Byron Center, Michigan. The addendum modifies the previously issued Bid Documents and establishes key project deadlines and requirements. The revised bid submission deadline is Friday, June 12, 2020 at 1:00 pm, with the last day to submit questions being Tuesday, June 9th at 3:00 pm. All questions will be answered and distributed by SIGMA on Wednesday, June 10 at 3:00 pm. Bidders must acknowledge receipt of this addendum on the Bid Form, or their bid may be rejected. The project involves paving work and related site improvements, with coordination required between this contract and a separate contractor responsible for installing light poles and wiring within the parking lot to avoid rework on paving efforts.

The addendum specifies material testing requirements that are mandatory for the project. For asphalt paving, testing requires one test per 5,000 square feet of pavement per lift with a minimum density of 94 percent of TMD, along with proof-roll observation of the aggregate base after existing pavement removal. Concrete testing includes slump tests per ASTM C143 once per 2,500 square feet of sidewalk, curb, or ramp/wall, and cylinder testing for new ramps, walls, sidewalks, and curbs with compressive strength testing at 7 and 28 days per ASTM C31 and C39. Ada sidewalk ramps do not require tactile plate installation. Bidders must communicate with the owner and engineer if unsuitable areas are identified during the aggregate base inspection.
