About this file

This is a planning and site map document for the Pelican Bay Bay Colony Dune Plantings project in Florida, a coastal restoration initiative managed by state and local authorities. The project encompasses approximately 225,000 square feet of dune planting area across multiple zones (R-30 through R-41) spanning roughly 4,500 linear feet by 50 feet in width. The work involves supply and installation of dune-tolerant native vegetation including sea oats, railroad vine, sea purslane, and dune sunflower in two designated planting zones: Zone I (foredune) and Zone II (dune crest). Plants are to be installed at 24-inch on-center spacing in rows spaced 24 inches apart. The project follows significant tropical weather events in 2024, including Tropical Storm Debby and Hurricanes Helene and Milton, which necessitated dune reconstruction before vegetation installation could proceed.

The contractor is responsible for initial watering of all plant material and supplementation with crystallized hydrogel. Site-specific field adjustments may be required at the landward limit of vegetation plantings to accommodate existing topography, established dune vegetation, and structures such as boardwalks and foot paths. The maps provided depict approximate areas and are not to scale, serving as planning documents to guide the contractor in identifying planting zones and public beach access points across the designated dune restoration areas. No specific pricing, response deadlines, or contract term information is contained within this planning document.

1. Map and graphics shown depict approximate areas and are not to scale.

2. Total dune planting area is +/-4,500 linear feet by +/- 50 feet wide, approximately +/-225,000 square feet.

3. Landward limit of vegetation plantings baseline may require site-specific field adjustments to tie into existing topography and existing dune vegetation and to avoid structures (boardwalks, foot paths, etc.).

4. For Zone I (foredune) and Zone II (dune crest) plants shall be installed 24” spacing O.C. in rows spaced 24” apart.
