Critical compatibility requirement: all items must be compatible with Syntech IDAC data acquisition systems. The system must operate on standard U.S. laboratory power supply (120V, 60Hz).

Interested contractors must submit responses by email to shane.pope@usda.gov by 3:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on Wednesday, May 17, 2026. Responses in Microsoft Word or PDF format must include company capabilities synopsis (limited to 5 pages), UEI number, company name and address, SAM registration validation, points of contact with phone and email, and past work experience with federal agencies or comparable commercial businesses. The applicable NAICS code is 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing) with a small business size standard of 1,000 employees. The contemplated solicitation will be evaluated using lowest price technically acceptable criteria. Prospective contractors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and complete electronic annual representations and certifications in accordance with FAR requirements.

THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Contracting Office is conducting market research to determine if there is a sufficient number of qualified Small Businesses, (i.e., small, small disadvantaged, woman-owned, Hub Zone, serviced-disabled veteran-owned small business) to set aside a Purchase Order. The USDA will use responses to this notice to make the appropriate acquisition decision. The contemplated solicitation will be issued in accordance with FAR Part 12.

The objective of this requirement is to acquire an Soxhlet Extractor System in support of the USDA mission located in Byron, GA.

The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part, any contractor's input resulting from this Sources Sought. No contract will be awarded as a result of this announcement. Data submitted in response to this Sources Sought will not be returned. This request is for informational purposes only and the Government will not pay any costs associated with the preparation and submission of a response to this Sources Sought.

Soxhlet Extractor System

Specifications:

A Soxhlet extractor is a classic laboratory apparatus for continuously extracting compounds from a solid material using a minimal amount of solvent.

The preferred item is a (Brand name Soxtec 800 DK or equal) The vendor shall deliver:

• One (1) complete Soxhlet extraction system

• All required glassware and accessories for operation

• User manual and operating instructions

• Manufacturer warranty documentation

• Packing list and certificate of conformity (if available) The Soxhlet extraction system shall meet or exceed the following minimum specifications:

• Extraction Method: Classical Soxhlet solvent extraction

• Capacity: Minimum of 6 extraction positions

• Time Frame: Must be able to perform extraction cycle within 45-60 minutes

• Solvent Recover Rate: Must be at or above 80%

• Materials: Borosilicate glass or chemically resistant materials suitable for organic solvents

• Heating System: Integrated heating mantle or compatible external heating source

• Condensation: Efficient condenser(s) capable of continuous solvent reflux

• Compatibility: Suitable for common solvents (e.g., hexane, petroleum ether, ethanol)

• Electrical Requirements: Compatible with standard U.S. laboratory power supply (120 V, 60 Hz)

All items are required must be compatible for use with Syntech IDAC data acquisition systems.

The contemplated solicitation will be evaluated based on lowest price technically acceptable process in accordance with FAR PART 12. All interested contractors who can meet the requirements stated above should respond with information describing their interest, capabilities statements, and indicate the small business category for which they qualify. E-mail responses are required. The due date for responses to this Sources Sought is at 3:00 pm Central Standard Time on Wednesday, May 17, 2026.

Respondents should include as part of their submission:

a. A synopsis of the company's capabilities to meet the requirements stated above (limit 5 pages).

e. Business size as validated via the System for Award Administration (SAM). All offerors must register on the SAM located at http://www.sam.gov.

f. Company points of contact, phone number, and email address.

g. Past work experience. If you have experience working with other Federal Agencies and/or commercial businesses of similar size and scope, please include agency and/or business name contract number (if applicable), amount and type of contract.

Any company proprietary information must be marked as such.

THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) 334516 – Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing, which contains a size standard of 1,000 employees is applicable to this acquisition. Interested firms are reminded that in accordance with FAR 4.12, prospective contractors shall complete electronic annual representations and certifications and in conjunction with FAR 4.11, are required to be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) at the time an offer or quotation is submitted.
