Death Valley National Park, CA Wayside Replacement Specifications
08/03/2026
The National Park Service (NPS), Death Valley National Park, is in need of replacement of various wayside exhibit panels and wayside bases around the park. Below is a complete list of items to be supplied by the vendor. This requirement is for the supply of printed panels and the wayside bases only. Death Valley National Park will provide the designs and install the panels as well as new wayside housing.
Part 1: Background/Objective/Scope
I. Background:
Death Valley National Park is committed to providing accurate and accessible information about park resources. Waysides are installed in various locations in the park to give background on the area immediately next to them. These waysides are installed outdoors, where they get no shade cover, exposed to extreme heat and open to visitors at all hours. These conditions have sun-bleached the panels, left them scratched, eroded, and vandalized (see “Appendix A: Pictures” below). Years of wear and tear has left all in need of replacement so that visitors can continue to enjoy high quality educational and interpretive experiences.
II. Objective:
Replace 15 wayside exhibit panels that are fading from sun exposure, scratched, and vandalized. We are looking to order wayside panels for 15 original designs and a duplicate for each design for a total of 30 wayside panels. The 30 panels will be ordered in 3 different sizes (36”x24”, 42”x24” and 36”x48”). In addition, the park needs to replace multiple wayside bases with backups, so 10 total new wayside bases are required as well.
III. Scope: Items needed. Images of examples are provided in appendix A below.
