The installation and operation of all HVAC systems will be alike for ease of preventative, recurring, and corrective maintenance operations. Common accessories such as thermostats, air filters, and piping will be of the same manufacturer and model whenever possible. The contractor may offer different brands of heating and cooling units, but each component must be the same brand, i.e., furnaces will be the same manufacturer, cooling units will be the same manufacturer.
EXCEPTIONS: the “mini-split” heat pump unit to be installed in the Curatorial Office location need not be the same brand as the other locations. The mini-split unit will be of comparable quality to the existing unit and provide comparable AFUE (AFUE 96-98) and SEER (17 minimum) numbers as to all units. The ceiling mounted HVAC unit in the Curatorial Artifact Storage room will be comparable to the current model (Liebert) installed in the room. The unit must have automatic humidity and climate control features unique for the storage of historical artifacts. In addition to the climate control features, the unit must be ceiling mounted as floor space within the room is not available.
2. All current vent and duct systems will be utilized. Current wall or roof penetrations will be reutilized if possible. All Plenums and flexible duct connections will be replaced with new.
All cooling coil units to be replaced. All vent and duct systems will be professionally cleaned before installing new HVAC units.
