About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the replacement of an exhaust fan system at Padre Island National Seashore (PAIS) in Corpus Christi, Texas. The National Park Service requires removal and replacement of a deteriorated rooftop laboratory exhaust blower fan that serves a Labconco brand 48-inch chemical fume hood in the Division of Sea Turtle Science and Recovery laboratory. The preferred equipment is a Greenheck Model CUE-095-VG upblast exhaust fan, or an approved alternative of comparable quality meeting industry standards. The contractor must provide all labor, materials, equipment, roof curbs, flashing, sealants, and hardware necessary for safe installation under park staff supervision. Upon completion, the contractor shall inspect the complete fume hood exhaust system, measure and verify fume hood face velocity to achieve approximately 100 feet per minute in accordance with ANSI Z9.5 laboratory ventilation standards, and perform post-installation testing and certification with written documentation submitted to PAIS for project records.

Work must be completed within 90 calendar days after receipt of award, with the installation performed to park safety standards and ensuring no property exposure to water damage during construction. The contractor shall provide a one-year minimum warranty on all craftsmanship, equipment, and materials from the date of completion. Acceptance criteria include full installation and operational status of the new exhaust fan, compliant airflow and face velocity achievement in the fume hood, submission of a written inspection and certification report, and PAIS confirmation of satisfactory operation. Following award, the contractor must submit a Designation of Superintendent letter, construction schedule, and material submittals. PAIS will provide reasonable facility access during normal business hours and designate a point of contact for coordination.

Scope of Work - Replacement of Exhaust Fan Purpose Padre Island National Seashore (PAIS) requires replacement of an existing rooftop laboratory exhaust blower fan serving a laboratory chemical fume hood, and subsequent inspection, testing, and certification of the fume hood to ensure safe operation and compliance with applicable laboratory ventilation standards.

Background Padre Island National Seashore Division of Sea Turtle Science and Recovery operates a small laboratory in order to carry out mission operations. The laboratory recently replaced a tall vent stack blower on this laboratory that ventilates the necropsy room. The second vent on the laboratory exhausts air for the Labconco brand 48 in fume hood. This existing exhaust blower fan mounted on the roof, though functioning, has deteriorated and is no longer providing adequate ventilation for the fume hood. Proper exhaust airflow is critical for personnel safety and regulatory compliance.

Work to be Performed The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to safely remove and replace the rooftop exhaust blower fan. Installation will be performed under supervision of park staff to park safety standards. The contractor shall furnish and install a new laboratory exhaust fan suitable for chemical fume hood service, with a preferred model of Greenheck CUE-095-VG upblast exhaust fan or an approved alternative of comparable quality that meets industry standards. The replacement fan shall be properly sized and configured to achieve required exhaust performance according to ANSI standards. All necessary roof curbs, flashing, sealants, and hardware shall be provided and installed by the contractor. Final installation must be fully weatherproof, and at no time shall construction be halted leaving any property exposed to water damage. Upon completion, the contractor shall inspect the complete fume hood exhaust system, measure and verify fume hood face velocity, adjust airflow as necessary to achieve an average face velocity of approximately 100 feet per minute in accordance with ANSI Z9.5 laboratory ventilation guidance, and perform post-installation testing and certification. The contractor shall provide written documentation of airflow measurements, test results, and fume hood certification and submit a final report to PAIS for project records.

Exhaust fan to be replaced Additional Equipment to be Provided by Contractor Additional accessories and parts not provided by park may be required to complete radio installation. Examples of additional specialized equipment may include toggle switches, specialized antennae (for example: Shakespeare 5241-R antenna, see image below), hardware kits & installation supplies specific to vehicle installations (for example, the Mahindra Roxor may require a specific type of antenna mount due to frame and/or roof design). Accessory parts used for the radio installations may be of various brands and specifications, as long as they meet industry standards.

Preferred Exhaust Fan

Greenheck Model: CUE -095-VG

An alternative exhaust blower fan that meets industry standards of comparable quality will be accepted.

Acceptance Criteria

· The work will be considered complete and acceptable when:

· The new exhaust fan is fully installed, operational, and securely mounted.

· The fume hood achieves compliant airflow and face velocity.

· A written inspection and certification report has been submitted to PAIS.

· PAIS confirms satisfactory operation of the fume hood system.

Warranty All craftsmanship, equipment, and materials shall carry a minimum one-year warranty from the date of completion.

Site Conditions and Access PAIS will provide reasonable access to the facility during normal business hours and designate a point of contact for coordination. The contractor is responsible for maintaining a safe work area and complying with site-specific safety requirements.

Government Expects the work to be completed within 90 calendar days after receipt of award.
