The electrical distribution system within one of the primary panels, identified as DP-2, single phase 800amp 240v panel, is now past its useful life. Additionally, with the recent installation of a new HVAC air handling unit and to bring fire alarm system up to NEC and NFPA code, the existing panel DP-2 is to be removed and replaced with a new, exterior wall mounted panel DP-2 with existing electrical service to be extended through the exterior wall to the new panel and enclosure.

1.2 Work Covered by the Contract Documents:

A. Project Location: The project is located within the park visitor center, address 1741 Old Post Road, Gillette, Arkansas within Arkansas County.

Work consists of: The disconnection and removal of existing distribution panel DP-2 which is fed direct from the main distribution panel (MDP) and located within the mechanical room of the visitor center (VC). The contractor shall provide and install a new NEMA 3R rated enclosure to house a new single phase, 800amp, 240v panel. Existing electrical service from panel DP-2 which is routed by conduit up through the floor of the mechanical room shall be extended through the wall and re-connected to the new panel DP-2 as indicated in the construction drawings.

The Contractor shall additionally identify the point of connection of electrical service from the VC fire alarm system located within the same mechanical room as panel DP-2 (approximately 8 feet away horizontally) and establish a direct wire route within conduit to new panel DP-2 and terminate at new dedicated circuits.

As bid additive, should NPS elect to award, the Contractor shall restore electrical connection which serves a series of duplex receptacles which were severed within a single 1” galvanized conduit encapsulated within a CMU and Grout filled cavity of the exterior wall. The severed connection is due to installation of a new thru-wall mechanical louver under a separate contract. Work is to include core drill below the existing louver to intercept the conduit, install new wall mounted junction box(es), and route wiring in CO approved manner to establish restored connection to sub-panel L-1 in adjacent room. See construction drawings for representative photos and further information.

For example this item includes all work within 5 feet of the exterior perimeter of the building. If “no separate measurement will be made” on lump sum items then state that. For materials that are imported “Certified Weight tickets” may be used or in the case of earthwork “average end area method” ,etc.

State whether payment will be made at the contract “Lump sum price” or at the contract “Unit price per (unit of measure).” Coordinate this information with what is shown in the Bid Schedule

0. Payment will be made per the contract and percentage of completion level.

If Options are included in the contract use the following format. The scope of the option needs to be clearly defined so when it is awarded and combined with the base contract there will be no conflicts or overlaps. If any portion of this work replaces work in the Base Price, be sure to describe that work and call for the option price to include an adjustment. Continue with sequential numbering of bid items, using alpha characters (A, B, and C) to identify options.

If Options are included in the contract that consist of multiple items under a single Option use the following format

0. Bid Additive 01

1. Contract Line Item No. 0002.

0. This item consists of intercepting existing in-wall severed conduit, provide and install wall mount junction box(es) and route new wire and conduit to restore the power connection.

0. Payment will be made per the contract and percentage of completion level.
