About this file

This is a Salient Characteristics attachment defining the technical specifications for a Thermal Gravimetric Analyzer (TGA) system required by the USGS Geology, Energy & Minerals Science Center. The TGA must be a stand-alone, fully integrated system with software support and installed dimensions not exceeding 21" W x 25" D x 25" H, weighing no more than 100 lbs. The system must include a robotic autosampler for high-throughput analysis, a water bath cooling system, and expansion options for peripheral gas analysis devices. The power supply must be factory-set for operation at either 115V or 230V, with an available annual service plan option.

The TGA's gas controller must operate at 1-3 bar pressure and be software-tunable, supporting air, argon, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, oxygen, and helium with a flow rate tolerance of 3 ml/min. The furnace must have a minimum diameter of 20mm and volume of 45 mL with a built-in cooling jacket and cell thermocouple. Performance requirements include heating capability to at least 1100°C with temperature precision of ±0.5°C and a maximum heating rate of at least 250°C/min. The RFQ (140G0126Q0089) will be issued on or about April 7, 2026, with written quotes due April 15, 2026, and anticipated award on April 17, 2026. Delivery is required 56 days after receipt of order to Reston, VA. The NAICS code is 334516 with a size standard of 1,000 employees. Vendors must be registered at SAM.gov, and all responsible sources are eligible to bid. Responses should be directed to rlanderson@usgs.gov.
