Camper Site Concrete Loft Mountain seasonal housing area

1. BACKGROUND

Shenandoah National Park lies along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains in north central Virginia, less than 90 miles southwest of Washington, DC. The park stretches about 80 miles North to south and consists of more than 197,000 acres, including nearly 80,000 acres of Designated wilderness.

Shenandoah National Park (SNP) Loft Mountain developed area is accessed from the Skyline Drive around Mile Post 79-1/2. The VIP camper/trailer sites lie to the east of the seasonal housing past the camp store. Cell phone signal within SNP is sketchy at best.

2. SCOPE OF WORK

The Contractor shall provide all management, supervision, labor, material, supplies, and equipment and shall plan, schedule, coordinate, and assure effective performance of all services and systems described herein.

Work includes, but not limited to the following: removal of material (excavate & legally dispose of outside the park) to accommodate and provide new as follows:

* Provide two (2) new (20’ X 50’/each) 4000-psi air-entrained fiberglass-reinforced concrete pads as drawn w/ #4 rebar placed in center of 6” thick concrete 12” on center each way. Provide 1% to 1-1/2% concrete top slope from center to pad edges. Broom finish new concrete slabs. Concrete placement & curing per applicable ACI guidelines.

* New concrete pads placed on 8” of VDOT #21A crushed stone compacted to 98% modified proctor (density) minimum.

* Adjacent to remain areas to the blended, graded, seeded, etc., to match existing to remain. All ground disturbed areas to be seeded and establish suitable stabilized vegetation for regular lawn seed for mowing & maintenance.

All work in accordance with industry-standard practices.

o Remove and dispose of all impacted or unsalvageable materials & debris from affected areas.

o The contractor shall dispose of all wastes, trash, & debris pursuant to the applicable federal, state, and local laws and to the satisfaction of Shenandoah National Park, legally outside the park.

o Contractor shall be self-sufficient for all traffic (pedestrian & vehicular) controls, own & sub employees’ needs & amenities, such as, but not limited to; toilets & hand washing facilities, drinking water, etc.

o Contractor must coordinate with receiver (SNP) for installation time window to minimize down time and for interfaces with area occupants. Bid/proposal to clearly indicate a realistic schedule from award (if awarded) to final completion.

3. TIME FOR COMPLETION

All work specified shall be completed between within 30 calendar days from Notice to Proceed, unless noted otherwise.
