3.5. VEHICLE INSTALL NOTES
Ford Interceptor #1 (G62-0528Y):
This vehicle should serve as a rough example of how all three vehicles should be outfitted by the contractor as it has already been upfitted by a previous contractor. However, G62-0528Y should be disassembled and reinstalled to match the assigned contractor’s installation processes and methods (i.e., wiring and electrical standards, cable management, etc.), so all three vehicles are identical. Programming of equipment is outlined in the above tables.
Current issues with 0528Y for troubleshooting (may be resolved during reinstallation):
- Siren emits high pitched tone (Code 3, switched dial to manual, siren emitted steady high pitched, loud tone). Siren remained on even after turning car off and back on. Siren had to be manually disconnected in engine.) This high-pitched tone seemed to stay ON similar to the mobile radio, which stays on for 30 minutes after car is shut off.
- Pig tail wires for side mirror lights need to connect to side mirror lights inside door panel. Also, power button for side mirror lights was routed to separate button on controller; would like side mirror lights activated in Code 3 and shut off or, preferably, cruise mode when vehicle is placed in park or Code 2 or 1. No need for it to have its own button.
- Setup siren to be manually turned on instead of automatically turning on in Code 3 but will still shut off when vehicle placed in park. At very least, allow user to have full control of when to initiate the siren.
- “Manual” and “Air Horn” should be functional when vehicle is turned on. Currently only functional when transmission is engaged.
- Setina cargo box was supposed to be mounted off floor approximately 12-16 inches; freestanding mount was provided, but installer stated cargo box was not compatible with ProGard rear partition. Would like cargo box raised off floor to allow for storage underneath cargo box and open access to spare tire.
Ford Interceptor #2 (G62-0529Y):
This vehicle shall be outfitted identical to G62-0528Y (listed above) with the addition of the Stalker Dual Radar Unit. Radar unit shall be turned on and off with the vehicle ignition. Radar faceplate should be mounted on the top of the dash so as to not obstruct the driver’s view. The front sensor may be mounted on the drivers side dash using Velcro. The rear sensor shall be mounted in the rear windshield using a fixed post included with the radar unit. This vehicle is the only one with a radar unit.
Ford Interceptor #3 (G62-1425Y):
This vehicle shall be outfitted identical to G62-0528Y (listed above) with the following exception: This vehicle shall be outfitted with an overhead roof-mounted emergency lightbar (Whelen Cenator 54-inch) instead of an internal visor-mounted lighting system. All other lighting and programming shall be identical to the other two vehicles.
Center console notes:
- Center console shall be arranged identical to G62-0528Y. Customer would prefer if radio head unit could be angled slightly to reduce glare and provide better visibility.
- Mag Mics will be provided by customer. These should be used to mount radio and PA microphones.
- Ford OEM parking brake lever will require relocation to preset location on center console.
3.6 DC ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
All DC wiring shall be in accordance with the applicable portion of Society of Automotive Engineers SAE J1292.
All DC wiring mounted to the chassis or outside the body shall be stranded copper conductors.
All DC wiring shall be routed in flexible loom or conduit (tie wraps are not acceptable) and in accordance with the OEM’s Body Builder Layout Book.
