28 MARCH 2022

1. SCOPE OF WORK: Provide all labor, supplies, equipment, materials, tools, and skilled supervision to provide geophysical survey work at Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico. The base effort of the geophysical survey will identify voids beneath the ground surface throughout the Park in the areas indicated in Exhibit A

(approximately 35 acres; does not include Area 5). The optional effort of the geophysical survey will identify voids beneath the ground surface within the approximate 23 acres of

Area 5.

The primary goal is to determine if/where voids exist so the NPS can plan for future below-grade utility work. Of most importance are voids that are 6' diameter or larger down to a depth of at least 20', as well as any void larger than 50’ in diameter down to a depth of 50’. A final deliverable will be required as a report and map showing void locations/depths that is tied into an existing topographical survey that already exists at the

Park (Available upon request prior to award; the survey will be provided to the awardee in AutoCAD format).

The NPS anticipates the work will include the use of a walk-behind ground-penetrating radar (GPR) Instrument for paved areas and alternative methods, such as electro-resistivity, where GPR is not feasible. A significant portion of the geophysical survey is anticipated to be outside paved areas.

2. LOCATION: The project work is located at Carlsbad Caverns National Park in the areas identified on Exhibit A. Complete a walk-through with Park staff to ensure that the boundaries of the survey are accurately staked out prior to beginning field work.

The contractor shall coordinate for all parking lots with the NPS for shutdown timelines. Specifically of note, the east parking lot will be impacted by the bat flight program during April through

November.

5. DELIVERABLE: A final deliverable will be required as a report and map showing void locations/depths that is tied into an existing topo survey. Mapping shall be color coded to indicate void shape and depth. Report and mapping shall meet typical industry standards for geophysical survey work.
