About this file
This is a draft specification document for the Lower American River Contract 3B South (LAR C3BS) erosion control and levee strengthening project. The specification outlines construction requirements for erosion protection and levee stabilization along approximately 1.5 miles of the South bank of the Lower American River in Sacramento, California, extending from Watt Avenue upstream to near Mayhew Drain. The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Sacramento District is soliciting design-bid-build (DBB) construction services under pre-solicitation notice W9123827BA002, with the project anticipated to be fully designed prior to construction. The Government estimates construction can be completed within 510 calendar days from the contractor's receipt of Notice to Proceed.
The scope of work includes excavation, placement, and regrading of riverbank slope and levee embankment material; installation of soil-filled rock slope protection on the waterside levee face and riverbank; construction of launchable rock toe and launchable trench features; placement of river toe protection and planting bench features; instream wood structure placement; tie-in of erosion protection elements to existing rock revetment features; temporary erosion control for stabilized soil areas; and import and placement of riprap. Vegetation clearing will be performed under a separate Government contract prior to erosion protection efforts. This project continues efforts from the American River Common Features (ARCF) erosion reduction program, building upon the previously awarded LAR Contract 3A (W9123824C0014).
