About this file

This is a draft plans document for the Lower American River (LAR) Contract 3B South (C3BS) erosion control and levee strengthening project in Sacramento, California. The document provides technical and design details supporting the Design-Bid-Build (DBB) construction solicitation (W9123827BA002) issued by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Sacramento District. The project continuation of the American River Common Features (ARCF) erosion reduction program focuses on approximately 1.5 miles of the South bank of the Lower American River, extending from Watt Avenue upstream to near Mayhew Drain (Site 4-1).

The construction scope includes excavation and placement of materials on riverbank slopes and levee embankments, installation of soil-filled rock slope protection on the waterside levee face and riverbank, construction of river toe protection with launchable rock toe and launchable trench features, planting bench features with instream wood structure placement, riprap import and placement, temporary erosion control for disturbed soil areas, and tie-in of erosion protection elements to existing rock revetment features. The Government anticipates full design delivery prior to construction and estimates the work can be completed within 510 calendar days from the Contractor's receipt of Notice to Proceed. Vegetation clearing will be performed under a separate Government contract prior to the erosion protection work. This pre-solicitation announcement precedes the formal solicitation release, allowing potential contractors to review the project scope and plans in advance of bidding.
