About this file

This is a Q&A document for bid B-45900 regarding overhead lift installation for the Illinois Veterans Home, located in Kane County, Illinois. The document addresses questions from potential bidders about the installation of 30 overhead lifts in resident rooms, clarifying that only companies who attended the walkthrough and were listed on the sign-in sheet are eligible to bid on this IFB (Invitation for Bid).

The document specifies that outer walls are constructed of steel stud and block, while inner walls are steel studs. It confirms that separate lifting systems must be installed in both bedroom and bathroom areas, as structural modifications to doorways are not permitted. The facility has loading docks but no storage space for vendor materials between installation dates. The bid will be awarded based on lowest cost, provided vendors meet all specifications outlined in the bid documents.

B-45900 IVHM Overhead Lift Bid Questions

Question
Answer
is a distributor partner able to submit a bid who was not present?
The walkthrough sign in sheet designates the bidding vendor. Individuals annotated what company they were representing. Only the companies annotated on the sheet are capable of bidding on this IFB.

Can you report the structure behind the walls (2x4 vs block vs steel stud)?

All outer walls are steel stud and block.

Inner walls are steel studs

is it required that the lift be able to go from room into restroom? Can the header of the door be modified? If not, we would require a lift in the bedroom and a separate lift in the bathroom, where the staff would need to lower into a wheelchair and re-raise in the bathroom. Is this acceptable for submission?
The lifting systems with need to be established in both areas. The facility will not be allowing the structural change of the entryway to the bathroom as this will and can affect operations at the facility. Vendors will need to provide the facility with a system that meets the required specifications set forth in bid
is there a loading dock? Space to store items between install dates?
The facility does have docks to unload/load product. The facility does not have space for the storage of products from the vendor.
Is this bid is going to be based on cost solely?
IFBs are based on low-cost. But that vendors must meet all specification to be considered in the award process.
