About this file
This is an Annual Wage Order issued by the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, Division of Labor Standards, establishing prevailing wage rates for public works construction projects in Jackson County, Section 048. The wage order became effective March 10, 2025, when a certified copy was filed with the Missouri Secretary of State. Interested parties may file objections to the wage order until April 9, 2025, by submitting written objections in triplicate to the Labor and Industrial Relations Commission in Jefferson City with concurrent notification to the Division of Labor Standards. The wage order applies to both building construction and heavy construction projects, with separate rate schedules provided for each classification category as defined in Missouri regulations.
The prevailing hourly wage rates vary by occupational classification and construction type, ranging from $40.77 for Boilermakers and Painters under building construction to $96.07 for Elevator Constructors. Building construction rates apply to standard construction projects, while heavy construction rates, which are generally lower, apply to highway and heavy construction work as classified in Missouri's construction standards. The prevailing rates include applicable fringe benefits as defined in Missouri Revised Statute Section 290.210. Overtime compensation requires payment of one and one-half times the prevailing hourly rate for work exceeding ten hours in one day or forty hours in one calendar week, while work performed on Sundays or recognized holidays must be compensated at twice the prevailing hourly rate. All workers are entitled to a thirty-minute unpaid lunch period daily on public works projects. The wage order establishes seven recognized holidays: January 1, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, with the following Monday observed as the holiday if any of these dates fall on Sunday.
