Specifications

The Department of Interior, National Park Service is soliciting offers to procure the supply of a backup generator for Mt Rushmore National Memorial, Keystone, SD. The contractor is expected to follow commercial practices to ensure proper installation, connection, and testing of complete generator backup system in accordance with trade standards and all State and Federal applicable codes.

This requirement involves the purchase and installation of a new 90KW diesel generator to replace the existing and aged 90kva Olympia generator currently supporting the Mt Rushmore Dispatch Center when commercial power fails. The contractor shall supply all labor and materials to install the new generator so that the new generator will operate the same building systems the current generator operates. The emergency load demands for the Dispatch Center is a maximum of 65,000 watts. No new transfer switch or building wiring shall be installed or changed.

Existing generator will need to be removed and legally disposed of at the expense of the installer. The new generator shall mirror the shape and size of the old generator as close as possible, the existing concrete pad shall be reused to mount the new generator, the dimensions of usable concrete space is130”x 85”, A diesel fuel tank shall be integral to the new generator and may act as part of the base of the new generator. The tank shall have a capacity of a minimum of 150 gallons. Because of the proximity to the building, the exhaust stack of the new generator shall be installed at a height that expels the generator exhaust a minimum of 5 feet above the roof line of the building. New generator shall be upfitted with cold weather package, to prevent freeze up or non-start circumstance during winter months.

Contractor should provide pricing for:

1. Minimum 90kW 3phase 120/208Volts.

2. Labor to complete installation and perform testing.

3. Cost of removal and disposal of existing generator

Warranty and Testing

A warranty service must be available within a reasonable distance of Mt Rushmore National Memorial as determined by the contracting officer. At completion of installation, Service provider shall provide to the Facility Manager an orientation of the new machine functions and provide a manufacturers engine exercise schedule.

Contractor shall perform controlled power outage test to ensure the new generator operates correctly during an actual power outage.
