Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) Purchase Description
1. Product Description: This is a portable, quad-wavelength Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) designed for the complete characterization of fiber optic networks. It is engineered for field technicians to efficiently install, maintain, and troubleshoot both single-mode and multimode fiber optic cables. The device provides advanced diagnostic capabilities in a rugged, field-ready package.
2. Key Features:
• Automated Link Analysis: The OTDR includes an intelligent link mapping mode that automatically interprets test results and displays the entire fiber link as a simple, icon-based diagram. This feature provides a clear pass/fail status for each event, eliminating the need for complex trace analysis.
• Versatile Optical Performance: It is a quad-wavelength unit, capable of testing at 850/1300 nm for multimode and 1310/1550 nm for single-mode from one port. It offers a high dynamic range of at least 36 dB for accurate testing of long-distance networks.
• Field-Swappable Connectors: The optical port interface is a modular system that allows the operator to change connector adapters (e.g., from SC to LC) in the field without any tools, facilitating easy cleaning and maintenance.
• Integrated Field Tools: The device incorporates essential tools for fiber technicians, including a Visual Fault Locator (VFL) for identifying breaks and a built-in Optical Power Meter (OPM) and Light Source for end-to-end loss measurements.
• Enhanced Display: It features a large, 7-inch color touchscreen that is optimized for readability in direct sunlight, ensuring usability in all field conditions.
• Rugged, All-Day Operation: Designed for field use, the device has a battery life of at least 8 hours of continuous operation. It is housed in a shock-absorbent casing and is rated IP54 for dust and water resistance.
3. Additional Details:
• Onboard Reporting & Connectivity: The unit can generate PDF reports directly, without external software. For data transfer, it is equipped with both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as USB Type-A and Type-C ports. This ensures test results can be shared and archived efficiently from the field.
This OTDR is designed for the rapid and accurate testing of fiber optic networks in various environments, including data centers and outside plant applications. Its combination of automated analysis, versatile performance, and rugged design makes it a convenient and reliable choice for all fiber optic testing and troubleshooting needs.
