About this file

This document is an informational reference file containing maps, photos, and technical drawings for a road gate and guardrail installation project at Buffumville Lake. The materials serve as visual guidance for contractors executing gate and guardrail work.

The gate component includes installation of new single-swing gates and repainting of existing gates at multiple locations. New gates consist of a gate, pivot post, and tie-back post assembly with a lock and pin mechanism on the tie-back post for secure closure. Gate swing direction is dictated by road orientation: gates on the road to the launch swing one direction while gates on the road from the launch swing in the opposite direction, with tie-back open and closed positions clearly marked. Existing gates requiring repainting are identified in red on the overview map at 229 Oxford Road and other site locations. The guardrail component involves removal and replacement of entrance and exit guardrails at the boat ramp facility. New guardrail installation follows specifications detailed in technical drawings, utilizing wood rail sections mounted on steel posts set in concrete foundations, with specifications for post spacing (18 inches on center), rail dimensions (2x12 treated lumber), bolt requirements (3/8-inch galvanized bolts), and proper height and slope configuration relative to the roadway edge. All materials and installations are documented with photographs showing examples of completed work and existing conditions requiring removal or modification.
