About this file

This statement of work outlines requirements for the replacement of historic entry and access doors at Fort Smith National Historic Site. The project involves manufacturing new white oak doors that exactly replicate the 1940s doors being replaced in material, joinery, profiles, details, hardware, and appearance. Doors must meet Secretary of Interior standards for historic preservation. Replacement doors will have 5/8-inch diagonal bead board on the exterior, primed on interior and exterior surfaces before assembly. Each new door requires a 3-inch steel band with square nuts and bolts. Only hand-driven finish nails are allowed for assembly. The contractor must provide assembly photos and deliver the completed doors for government acceptance. Related federal contract opportunity number 140P6223Q0022 seeks proposals for replica doors for Fort Smith National Historic Site from the Department of the Interior National Park Service Midwest Region.
