Salient Characteristics
Agilent Seahorese XFe96 Analyzer (Brand Name or Equal)
General The Agilent Seahorse XFe96 Analyzer is a non-invasive, label-free, high-throughput instrument that measures the metabolic activity of living cells by simultaneously monitoring mitochondrial respiration (a set of metabolic reactions and processes requiring oxygen that takes place in mitochondria to convert the energy stored in macronutrients to adenosine triphosphate -- a compound found in all living tissues) and glycolysis (the breakdown of glucose by enzymes, releasing energy and pyruvic acid). This instrument is a research tool used by scientists to test scientific theories that play an important role in many areas of cell-based research, some of whose results can lead to new drug discoveries, cancer screening protocols, etc.
Warranty Requirements Manufacturer must offer a (1) one-year minimum warranty that product is free from defects in materials and workmanship. All defects will be replaced or repaired by the manufacturer at no cost to the buyer.
Specifications:
a. Real-time Results: Integrated system reports metabolic rates in minutes, without sample extraction or labeling. Software controls the instrument and performs measurements for same day results.
b. Live-Cell Responses: detect responses to substrates, inhibitors, and other compounds in real time via 4-port injection system and automated mixing while maintaining physiologic temperature (37°C).
c. Flexible Assay Design
d. High Sensitivity: analyze as few as 5000 cells per well.
e. Compatible with a variety of samples
f. Precision-controlled heating tray, which can maintain 16-42°C (12°C-20°C above ambient conditions).
g. Measures mitochondrial function
h. Quantifies adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production by Glycolysis and OXPHOS simultaneously
i. Generates a metabolic phenotype within one hour
j. Measures glycolytic rates in live cells
k. Determines dependency of cellular energy production on mitochondrial substrates
l. Analyze 3D samples such as spheroids and islets
m. Compatible with both adherent and suspension cells as well as isolated mitochondria and non-mammalian samples
n. Ability to perform up to 4 independent injections per well with automatic mixing
o. Automatic calculation of oxygen consumption rate (OCR) and extracellular acidification rate (ECAR).
p. Simultaneous measurement of OCR and ECAR in the same well
q. Analytical sensitivity for small sample size.
r. Validated for hypoxia
s. Label-free detection in real time
t. Windows compatible desktop analysis software for plotting, reporting, analyzing, and exporting data.
