Questions and Responses:
1. Question: Elevator Pit; NFPA-13 excludes sprinklers in the elevator pit if the shaft is noncombustible and does not contain combustible hydraulic fluids. Sprinklers are not required at the top of the shaft of traction elevators installed per code or previsions in NFPA 101. FP drawings Keynotes 21.02 and 21.03 is calling for sprinklers and valves. Are they going to be required or do we exclude them?
Response: We are removing the note (21.02) that calls for a sprinkler head at the top and bottom of the elevator shaft (on Sheet FP 100).
2. Question: Is the bathroom renovation part of the base bid or is it an option?
Response: The toilet room renovations are part of the base bid. This includes all work associated with these toilet rooms on the Ground Floor and First Floor (demo, environmental work, and new work: architectural, MEP/ FP).
3. Question: Please clarify if the pendants to be reworked shall be reworked with dry pendants. (Specially designed sprinkler heads which are engineered to keep the water out of the sprinkler drops in the event of an accidental discharge which avoids having to pull and drain every sprinkler drop to avoid freeze up.)
Response: Fire protection contractor to provide dry pendant sprinkler heads.
4. Question: Drawing C-2 shows a new masonry screen wall surrounding the emergency generator. It says, ‘see architectural plans”, but it not shown in the architectural set. Is this item included in our scope of work?
Response: Masonry screen wall was deleted and a muffler was added. Disregard the masonry screen in the Drawing.
5. Question: Will more details be provided for the Option 1: New Illuminated Signage at the East façade?
Response: The East sign should match west sign with individual illuminated letters.
6. Question: On the demolition drawings it states to remove ceiling and grid in the restrooms. But all the restrooms have gypsum ceiling. Does the gypsum ceiling need to be removed or remain?
Response: Gypsum board or plaster ceilings to be demolished. See HZ drawing for ceiling demo (environmental abatement).
