INSTRUCTIONS ON REGISTRATION IN THE SYSTEM FOR AWARD MANAGEMENT
Before registering in SAM, you need to do the following:
1. Request Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number:
DUNS Number assignment is free of charge for all businesses required to register with the US Federal Government to receive awards.
To request a DUNS number, visit this website http://fedgov.dnb.com/webform and request a new DUNS by clicking the link in blue at the middle of the page: click here to request your D.U.N.S Number via the Web. The process is simple and should take around 10 minutes to fill the required fields. An email will be sent to you with confirmation and DUNS number within 24 hours.
You will be asked for a Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) number. Check the following website to select the appropriate number that corresponds with your type of business: http://www.osha.gov/pls/imis/sicsearch.html
2. Request ncage code:
- Visit the following website to request ncage code:
https://eportal.nspa.nato.int/AC135Public/scage/CageList.aspx http://fedgov.dnb.com/webform http://www.osha.gov/pls/imis/sicsearch.html https://eportal.nspa.nato.int/AC135Public/scage/CageList.aspx
- Once you open the page, a form will pop-up. Type “Jordan” under the country and click on the search icon on the right side of the form.
- A list of companies will appear below the form. Scroll down and click on “Request New CAGE”.
- Fill-out the required information.
3. SAM Registration
After you receive your DUNS number and cage code, you need to visit http://www.sam.gov. This is the official website to register in the US Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database.
Create a username and password to receive an email with an activation link to activate your user account within 48 hours.
After you get the activation link and sign into SAM, the first two data entry screens in SAM are the most important ones and often cause registration problems. Online registration takes approximately 30 minutes to complete depending on the size and complexity of your entity. If you need further help with that, you can find a demonstration video (step by step) under Help menu.
Here is some guidance on those screens. After logging in under your account name, click on "Register New Entity" from the left side navigation pane. This will take you to the first data entry screen where you will enter your
DUNS number and other company information. The data you enter must match the data you entered when you registered with DUNS as the system will validate the information you enter.
When you click NEXT, the system will validate the data. If validated, you will be able to move to the second page and so on. If there is an error, you cannot move further in this process.
On the next screen, you will find the section on Financial Information. For the questions on banking information, and specifically on ABA numbers, these do not exist for banks in Jordan. Therefore, you cannot enter your bank information on this page. You must do two things on this page:
1. Choose NO for the Credit Card Payment item; and
2. Fill the remittance information at the end of the page.

After completing the Financial Information section, there will be additional screens to fill in. Those screens are self-explanatory as they relate to your company’s scope of work and other general information.
One of the screens will ask you for a NAICS number. Check the following website
(http://www.naics.com/search.htm) for help in selecting the number that corresponds with your type of business.
After submitting the registration, it takes 10- 14 business days to get the new entity registration confirmed.
