Statement of Work Bruker Portable Raman Service Agreement
C.1. OVERVIEW / BACKGROUND.
The Library of Congress (Library) Preservation Research and Testing Division (PRTD) requires contract support to purchase a one-year service agreement for its existing Bruker BRAVO portable Raman instrument (s/n BRV00405). This equipment is used for research and routine testing of a broad range of Library collection materials by using a small laser to analyze and identify the organic components of materials using Raman spectroscopy. This information is vital to the understanding of the material’s chemistry and how to better preserve the Library’s collection. Without this maintenance contract, the system will not be supported and failure to analyze Library collection material samples with this system may adversely impact the long-term preservation of Library collections. The service support agreement includes an on-site preventative maintenance and calibration visit, unlimited support by phone and email, as well as unlimited on-site service that includes all parts, engineer labor, and travel.
C.2. SCOPE.

This equipment is used for research and routine testing of a broad range of Library collection materials by using a small laser to analyze and identify the organic components of materials using Raman spectroscopy. Up to four additional option years may be included, contingent upon ongoing need, available funds, and adequate contractor performance.
