Additional requirements:
1. It is emphasized that bidders are responsible for the design criteria.
2. Contractors will be able to bring the necessary equipment and supplies and then store them in building 68 for the duration of the project so that the equipment and supplies will only have to be sanitized once. All equipment and tools shall be sanitized on-site but prior to entering the swine area. If any equipment or tools are taken off site, it will be required to sanitize them again if they are brought back on site. Contractors will be required to follow all of the swine area restrictions including showering in at the shower facility as they will be working in buildings that will have pigs in them.
3. Contractor shall be responsible for the removal off site of all material to be demolished, demolition debris, etc. A majority of the demolition material will be the aluminum shutters (over 100). Shutters could be recycled. Demolition material shall be picked up daily so as not to impede swine operations. Owner’s dumpsters may not be used by the contractor.
4. Contractor shall provide their own restroom.
5. Contractor will have access to building 68 which would provide them a breakroom and workspace but there is no restroom.
6. Project is to be restricted to those contractors that have swine building construction experience.
7. All equipment to be installed shall be submitted for approval prior to installation.
8. Operation and maintenance manuals shall be submitted for the job to be considered complete.
Training for installed equipment shall be provided to owner’s personnel.
9. It is required that the installed equipment be complete and fully functional to the satisfaction of the owner.
This is an example of what the ventilation will look like when it is complete. There will be one drive
(pictured above) that that will control each curtain (pictured below). This will allow for a much more uniform control of the amount of air that can be let in. as the curtain lowers it allows small increments of additional air into the building as is needed. This creates a much more uniform environment for the animals
EXHIBIT A: Desired Outcome
This is the current system this is in the buildings. This system was designed and installed in the early
1980’s. There are several individual shutters in a row that are each controlled individually by a motor.
You have eight to ten shutters and motors to control the ventilation each building. The way this works is that when the building calls for ventilation the shutters will either open or close. Because of the way they were designed the openings are either 100% open or closed. It is very difficult to regulate the air in a building with this type of setup. The maintenance on these shutters is very high with them being as old as they are
