Statement Of Work (SOW) For
Brightworks, Xzilon Polishing & Ceramic Application on C101 & C102 Aircraft
1.0 GENERAL
1.1 BACKGROUND
The purpose of this Statement of Work (SOW) in support of Air Station Washington’s requisition is to complete external metallic surface polishing and ceramic coating maintenance on the Coast Guards C101 (GV) and C102 (G550) Gulfstream aircrafts. This maintenance is required periodically via Gulfstream Maintenance Procedure Cards (MPC) and is necessary to prevent corrosion and meet mission requirements.
1.2 OBJECTIVE
To provide a clean and corrosion free surface of the metallic leading edges of the airfraime and also provide long term protection against scratches, oxidation, UV damage and environmental contaminates, reduce drag which leads to decreased fuel consumption over time, and reduce the interval between aircraft repainting via Brightworks and Xzilon polishing and Ceramic coating application.
2.0 SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS/TASKS
2.1. Services shall be performed at the location specified in section 3.7 of this SOW.
2.2 Maintenance procedures:
a. Brightworks/Xzilion: Perform maintenance in accordance with Gulfstream maintenance procedures 711109, 711110, 510013, 545004, 545003, 551113, 553013, 574013, 574014, described below.
b. Ceramic Coating: Perform ceramic coating maintenance in accordance with maintenance procedure 510011.
2.3 For Brightworks: required surfaces include left and right Inlet cowl lip skin polishing, left and right wing leading edge polishing, left and right pylon leading edge polishing, horizontal stabilizer leading edge polishing, and vertical stabilizer leading edge polishing.
2.4 For Ceramic Coating: required paint protector which adds ultraviolet rays, oil residuals, and general grime protection the the entire exterior of the aircraft. This process which is required once a year requires light buffing which removes any remaining previous protection coating.
2.5 This process is applicable to exterior metallic surfaces to attain a high luster (glossy) finish, to include leading edges of wing, winglets, vertical stabilizer, horizontal stabilizer, engine pylons, Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) exhaust fairing, engine nacelle surfaces (e.g., nose cowl, thrust reversers) as well as other metallic exterior components requiring normal routine maintenance and cosmetic polishing. The application of Xzilon 3, as an additional

protective layer to inhibit corrosion, is required by Gulfstream for aircraft operating in corrosion prone environments.
If pitting corrosion is present and material removal is beyond engineering blueprint tolerances, contact Gulfstream Customer Support for further assistance.
