About this file

These are three Preliminary Specification documents for the USS CURTIS WILBUR (DDG 54) detailing specific maintenance and repair requirements for naval equipment. The specifications cover three distinct maintenance tasks: (1) Air Conditioning Plant Condenser mechanical cleaning, which involves removing and disposing of system fluids, removing condenser water heads, performing visual inspections, mechanical cleaning, borescope inspection, and reinstallation of components; (2) Potable Water Pump Mechanical Seal replacement, involving disassembly of the pump, removing and installing a new mechanical seal assembly, and conducting hydrostatic and operational testing; and (3) Hydraulic Power Unit Fluid Cooler cleaning and inspection, which includes removing system fluids, disassembling coolers, chemically cleaning seawater sides, performing borescope inspections, reassembling with new gaskets and O-rings, and conducting operational tests.

Each specification is part of a maintenance package for the USS CURTIS WILBUR, with detailed technical requirements following military standards and referencing specific technical manuals. The work is to be performed in various ship compartments including Auxiliary Machinery Room, Air Conditioning Machinery and Pump Room, Steering Gear Room, with specific manufacturers and part numbers identified for each component. The documents are marked as export-controlled and contain technical information governed by U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR), indicating the sensitive nature of the naval equipment maintenance procedures.
