About this file
This is an Assurance of Compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 document issued by the County of San Mateo Contract Compliance Committee on August 5, 2013. The document establishes compliance requirements for contractors entering into agreements with San Mateo County. Contractors must affirm their commitment to comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, and all applicable Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) regulations, guidelines, and interpretations. The assurance applies to all contracts executed after the document's issuance date and is binding on the contractor, its successors, transferees, and assignees.
The document distinguishes compliance obligations based on contractor size. Contractors employing fewer than 15 persons are subject to less stringent accessibility requirements, with an exception allowing them to refer disabled individuals to accessible alternative providers if facility modifications would constitute a significant alteration. Contractors employing 15 or more persons must designate a Section 504 compliance coordinator and provide that individual's name and contact information. An authorized official of the contractor must certify the accuracy and completeness of the submitted information by signature, title, and date. This assurance document serves as a mandatory compliance requirement for vendors bidding on San Mateo County contracts, including the teleneurology services solicitation.
