About this file
This is an Assurance of Compliance document issued by the County of San Mateo Contract Compliance Committee on August 5, 2013, establishing Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 compliance requirements for contractors. The document requires all contractors to comply with Section 504 regulations, applicable Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) regulations, and all related guidelines and interpretations. The assurance applies to contracts awarded after the document's issuance date and binds the contractor, its successors, transferees, and assignees. Contractors must designate a Section 504 compliance coordinator if they employ 15 or more persons; contractors employing fewer than 15 persons are exempt from this requirement but remain subject to facility accessibility standards and may refer disabled persons to alternative accessible providers if compliance requires significant facility alterations.
The document requires an authorized official to complete and sign the assurance form, certifying the accuracy of contractor information including the designated 504 compliance person's name, contractor name, street address or P.O. Box, and city/state/zip code. This compliance assurance is a prerequisite for contract award and reflects the County's commitment to ensuring non-discrimination and accessibility for persons with disabilities across all contracted services and facilities.
