About this file

This file is an Assurance of Compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 issued by the County of San Mateo Contract Compliance Committee on August 5, 2013, applicable to the contract opportunity for Expanding Nutrition Services for People Experiencing Homelessness. The document requires contractors to comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, and all applicable Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) regulations, guidelines, and interpretations. Contractors must certify their compliance as a condition of contract award and acknowledge that contracts will be extended in reliance on the representations and agreements contained in the assurance.

The assurance distinguishes between two categories of contractors based on employee count. Contractors employing fewer than 15 persons need only sign the compliance statement without designating a Section 504 coordinator. Contractors employing 15 or more persons must designate a specific person to coordinate efforts to comply with DHHS regulations, providing that individual's name along with the contractor's legal name, street address or P.O. Box, city, state, and zip code. The document includes an exception for small contractors (fewer than 15 employees) stating that if no method of complying with facility accessibility regulations exists without significant alteration to existing facilities, the contractor may refer disabled persons seeking services to other accessible providers. An authorized official must sign and date the certification, confirming the accuracy and completeness of the information provided.
