About this file

This is an Assurance of Compliance document issued by the County of San Mateo Contract Compliance Committee on August 5, 2013, establishing Section 504 compliance requirements for contractors. The document outlines that all contractors entering into agreements with the county must comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, and all applicable Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) regulations. The assurance applies to contracts executed after the date of issuance and is binding on the contractor, its successors, transferees, and assignees. Contractors with 15 or more employees must designate a Section 504 compliance coordinator and provide the coordinator's name and contact information as part of the assurance documentation.

The document requires an authorized official to certify the accuracy of submitted information by signature, including the contractor's name, address, and the name of the designated 504 compliance person if applicable. Contractors with fewer than 15 employees are exempt from designating a compliance coordinator but may refer individuals with disabilities to alternative accessible service providers if facility modifications would constitute a significant alteration. This compliance assurance serves as a prerequisite for contract award and represents the contractor's binding commitment to non-discrimination and accessibility requirements under federal disability law.
