About this file

This is a requirements document for submitting a Project Abstract Summary (PAS) as part of a federal grant proposal under the Department of the Interior's U.S. Geological Survey cooperative agreement for invasive vine management in the Southern Appalachian region. The PAS must be submitted alongside the proposal via Grants.gov and will subsequently be made publicly available on USAspending.gov in compliance with OMB Memoranda M-21-20 and M-22-02.

The Project Abstract Summary must be organized to include the following sections: project title in plain language without acronyms; award purpose; activities to be performed; deliverables and expected outcomes; intended beneficiaries; and any subrecipient activities known at the time of award. The document must not exceed one page or approximately 4,000 characters, formatted in 12-point Times New Roman font. The cooperative agreement targets invasive climbing vine expansion throughout the southeastern United States and U.S. Caribbean territories, requiring applicants to build a regional database documenting species status, traits linked to spread, disturbance locations, and predictive maps for future species range expansion. Only organizations that are participating partners of the Southern Appalachian Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU) Program are eligible to apply. The project supports Executive Orders 14313 and 14303, focusing on natural resource stewardship, ecosystem protection, and science-based adaptation strategies. This funding falls under CFDA 15.808 (U.S. Geological Survey Research and Data Collection), with recent award sizes ranging from $30,000 to over $2 million for cooperative agreements.
