About this file
This document is a requirements template for the Project Abstract Summary (PAS) that applicants must submit with their proposals to the Department of the Interior for federal financial assistance awards. The PAS must be organized into specific sections: project title, award purpose (in plain language without acronyms), activities to be performed, deliverables and expected outcomes, intended beneficiaries, and subrecipient activities if applicable. The document must not exceed one page or approximately 4,000 characters, formatted in 12-point Times New Roman font. Upon award issuance, the Project Abstract Summary will be made publicly available on USAspending.gov in compliance with Office of Management and Budget Memoranda M-21-20 and M-22-02 requirements for complete and accurate financial assistance award descriptions.
This requirement applies to the Cooperative Agreement for affiliated Partners with the North Atlantic Coast Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, a USGS research funding opportunity under the U.S. Geological Survey Research and Data Collection program (CFDA 15.808). The cooperative agreement focuses on developing next-generation GeoAI-enabled data infrastructures for hydrology and elevation data sharing. Applicants must include the completed Project Abstract Summary alongside their full proposal submitted via Grants.gov. The underlying program supports research partnerships between federal agencies and academic institutions, state geological surveys, and non-profit organizations, with awards typically ranging from $40,000 to $500,000 over performance periods of one to five years, and applications subject to 2 CFR Part 200 regulations and Department of the Interior guidelines.
