About this file

This file is a template document outlining the Project Abstract Summary requirements for a Cooperative Agreement with the Gulf Coast Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU), administered by the USGS under the U.S. Geological Survey Research and Data Collection program (CFDA 15.808). The specific funding opportunity targets CESU partners to develop an Innovation Landscape in the Southern Great Plains, focused on accelerating the transfer of new land management technologies to military installations. The selected partner must demonstrate both military and natural resource expertise, established relationships, and the capacity to identify innovation needs and scalable natural resource solutions that support military missions, increase regulatory flexibility for the Department of War, and facilitate effective land use on military properties.

The attachment specifies mandatory abstract summary documentation requirements that applicants must provide as part of their proposal submission. Applicants should consult this template to ensure their project abstracts meet USGS expectations regarding format, content, and key information necessary for scientific review and evaluation. The application process follows standard federal requirements under 2 CFR Part 200 and Department of the Interior regulations (2 CFR Part 1402), with submissions made through Grants.gov using Standard Form 424. Award values typically range from $40,000 to $500,000 with performance periods of one to five years, and review criteria emphasize scientific excellence, relevance to USGS mission priorities, and alignment with important natural resource management challenges.
