About this file
This document is a requirement specification for Project Abstract Summaries to be submitted with federal grant proposals under the Department of the Interior.
The Project Abstract Summary must accompany all proposals submitted via Grants.gov and will be made publicly available on USAspending.gov to fulfill Office of Management and Budget transparency requirements. The summary is limited to one page or approximately 4,000 characters using 12-point Times New Roman font and must include the following mandatory sections: project title with plain language description avoiding acronyms and federal terminology, award purpose, activities to be performed, deliverables and expected outcomes, intended beneficiary(ies), and any known subrecipient activities. For this specific cooperative agreement opportunity with the Piedmont-South Atlantic Coast Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, the USGS is funding research on avian influenza infection and seroprevalence in understudied waterbird species, including movement tracking of marked birds correlated with infection status and pathology examinations to determine disease-specific causes of mortality. This opportunity falls under USGS Research and Data Collection (CFDA 15.808), which supports scientific research and collaborative projects across geological, water, mineral, and biological resource domains, with typical award values ranging from $10,000 to $800,000 and performance periods of two to five years. Applications must be submitted through Grants.gov using Standard Form 424, and recipients are subject to audit requirements under 2 CFR Part 200 with records maintained for three years following final financial report submission.
