About this file
This document is an official Project Abstract Summary Requirement from the Department of the Interior, mandated by OMB Memoranda M-21-20 and M-22-02. The requirement instructs grant applicants to provide a comprehensive one-page (approximately 4,000 characters) project summary for financial assistance awards, to be publicly listed on USAspending.gov. The summary must include specific sections: project title, plain language description, award purpose, planned activities, expected deliverables and outcomes, intended beneficiaries, and any subrecipient activities.
The abstract is specifically related to a USGS Western Ecological Research Center cooperative agreement opportunity focused on coastal wetland and seagrass ecology research for the Pacific Coast and Mariana Archipelago (Guam and Tinian). The grant targets Cooperative Ecosystems Studies Unit (CESU) member universities to conduct analysis and writing on natural resource management and national security, with an emphasis on developing and implementing watershed, wildfire, and restoration plans for the Department of Defense and other stakeholders. The opportunity falls under USGS Research and Data Collection program (CFDA 15.808), which supports scientific research across geological, water, mineral, and biological resource domains.
