About this file

This document is a Project Abstract Summary Requirement template from the Department of the Interior, aligned with OMB Memoranda M-21-20 and M-22-02. The template provides guidelines for creating a project abstract summary for financial assistance awards, which will be publicly available on USAspending.gov. The document specifies a strict format requiring applicants to include: project title, plain language description, award purpose, planned activities, expected deliverables and outcomes, intended beneficiaries, and any subrecipient activities.

The template mandates a concise one-page summary (approximately 4,000 characters maximum), recommending 12-point Times New Roman font. The abstract must be submitted alongside the proposal via Grants.gov and will be used to provide comprehensive and accurate financial assistance award descriptions. This requirement is part of a broader federal initiative to increase transparency in grant funding, with the specific context being a USGS cooperative agreement for conducting riparian plant physiological experiments and data synthesis related to the Colorado River ecosystem.
