About this file

This document is a Local Preference Program attachment from the City of Long Beach establishing eligibility criteria and application procedures for local business preferences in municipal procurement solicitations.

The City of Long Beach applies five extra credit percentage points to bids submitted by local businesses, defined as companies or organizations maintaining their principal place of business in a fixed location within city limits and possessing a current City of Long Beach business license and sellers permit, if applicable. An additional five percentage points are awarded to local businesses operating from a brick and mortar or non-residential commercial location, for a potential total of ten bonus points. Businesses seeking preference must certify their eligibility by selecting "yes" on the form and provide copies of current business licenses and seller's permits showing a place of business within city limits. The form requires applicants to document their business license number, seller's permit number, the business address associated with the license, and to indicate whether the location is a commercial/non-residential or residential address. Applicants must sign and date the certification, and failure to complete this section results in ineligibility for preference consideration.
