About this file

This document is a Local Preference Program attachment from the City of Long Beach establishing eligibility criteria and application procedures for local business preference in competitive solicitations.

The City of Long Beach applies five extra credit percentage points to all businesses that qualify as "local businesses" and an additional five percentage points to local businesses operating from a brick and mortar or non-residential location. A local business is defined as a company or organization maintaining its principal place of business in a fixed location within the City of Long Beach with a current City business license and sellers permit, if applicable. Businesses seeking to claim this preference must affirmatively request it in Attachment C and provide documentation supporting their eligibility.

To qualify for the local preference, businesses must submit a current, valid City of Long Beach business license showing a place of business within city limits and a current, valid seller's permit showing a place of business within city limits if applicable. Applicants must certify their eligibility status by selecting either "yes" or "no" on the form; leaving this section blank is prohibited. The form requires submission of the business license number, seller's permit number if applicable, the address associated with the business license, and identification of whether the location is a brick and mortar/commercial/non-residential location or a residential location. The certification must be signed with the applicant's name and date.
