Commodity Line 1 requires application of Tri-Brom 80 (80.0% methyl bromide with 19.9% chloropicrin) at 240 pounds per acre using continuous tarping methodology with 1 mil plastic film. Commodity Lines 2 and 3 require application of Dominus Biofumigant (96.3% Allyl isothiocyanate) at 30 gallons per acre and 40 gallons per acre, respectively, using identical tarping and application methods. All fumigation work is scheduled for late August through late September annually.
Vendors must provide all equipment, materials, supplies, fumigants, certified applicators, trained handlers, and required personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with EPA, OSHA, USDA, and Commonwealth of Kentucky regulations, permits, and certifications. Vendors must train between two and four nursery personnel as handlers at each location and develop fumigation plans in coordination with nursery managers, incorporating soil organic content data provided by the Division of Forestry at least one week prior to application. Vendors are responsible for monitoring and tarp repair during the first 24 hours post-application, with nursery personnel assuming monitoring and repair duties thereafter. Vendors must guarantee normal results from fumigation applications and retreat any acres that fail to perform at no additional cost to the Commonwealth.
