About this file

This is a requirements matrix spreadsheet detailing minimum specifications for AEDs and fire extinguishers for U.S. Senate state offices.

The matrix outlines 13 key requirements across three categories. For AEDs, requirements include FDA approval for automatic/semiautomatic units, ability to record events for emergency services, office-suitable mounting options, software update capabilities within 3 months of AHA guideline changes, provision of trainer units and supplies, cabinets/mounting hardware, storage cases, and inspection/maintenance monitoring plans. Fire extinguisher specifications require NFPA compliance, minimum 10lb ABC UL listing, office-suitable mounting, and manufacturer-recommended maintenance services. The training component requires in-person or hybrid sessions with in-person skills verification for both AED and fire extinguisher use.
