About this file
This document is a South Carolina Department of Transportation hourly restrictions guide for lane closures on multilane primary and secondary routes in District 3, specifically for Greenville County, dated July 1, 2019. The document outlines specific restrictions that prohibit lane closures, flagging operations, road closures, shoulder closures, pacing operations or any operations that will impact traffic flow during peak travel hours, holidays, holiday weekends, extended holiday periods, weekends, special events, or when traffic volumes are high.
The restrictions apply to all routes with traffic volumes exceeding 800 vehicles per hour per lane per direction, per Engineering Directive Number 32. Most roads have restrictions Monday through Friday between 7AM-9AM and 4PM-6PM, with some variations including longer restricted periods of 7AM-8PM. SC 146 (Woodruff Road) is notable for having extended weekend restrictions from 10AM-8PM on both Saturday and Sunday. Road S-492 (Pelham Road) has special provisions for the I-85 interchange area with no daytime lane closures permitted, requiring contractors to contact the Resident Maintenance Engineer at 864-241-1224 for specific information.
